What parents need to know

Parents need to know that the CD features multilingual vocabulary about all the colors of the rainbow, and the proceeds support hurricane relief efforts!

What's the story?

COLOR WHEEL CARTWHEEL, by Laura Freeman, was developed as part of a library education program for preschoolers, so it's earnestly educational. Even so, it's also a whole lot of fun. Freeman's feisty and expressive vocals backed by a strong rhythm section, along with simple yet clever lyrics, make this CD feel like a party. You won't find the slick production and rock & roll mastering techniques so popular in children's music these days, but these songs sound real, intimate, and immediate. Freeman used a New Orleans-based studio and musicians, so many of the songs have a distinctly New Orleanian rhythmic feel. In fact, you can feel extra good about buying the CD, because a portion of the proceeds will be donated to hurricane relief efforts.

Is it any good?

Featuring a song for every color in the rainbow, as well as multilingual vocabulary words for all the colors, the album explores a wide variety of musical styles and instrumentation without ever losing its focus. The vocals, instrumentation, and songwriting combine to provide a delightfully colorful romp through the rainbow.
