About Corinne Bailey Rae

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about how many different ways a lyricist can express emotion. Corinne Bailey Rae uses a simple description of a moment in time. Can you think of other ways to express your feelings through a song besides the words? Do some instruments bring out more emotion than others? Families can also discuss the similarities between songs and poems. Can they be classified as one in the same? How are they different?

Pretty Much Great For ALL AGES! But Probably Is More Entertaining To 9+

I think this is fine for younger kids as well as tweens, teens and adults!!! I personally LOVE Like a Star but younger kids may find it boring. But I have two younger neighbors who love Put Your Records On. No cussing, it's fine for 9+ and maybe even younger!!!

    Totally sweet

This is a great cd. The only reason I say on for ten is because it might not keep the attention of kids younger. It is a good one to fall asleep to!

    A Wonderful Piece of art

Must kids my age will not like this type of music. But they SHOULD because it's the best type of music out there. It's jazzy and upbeat. It's very relaxing and perfect for anytype of day, sunny or rainy. I especially love to listen to it on rainy days (not because it's boring, but because it just has the calming elegance that goes with a rain storm) YOu don't have to worry about anytype of suggestive lyrics or cussing or anything like that. No type of violence, the only alchohol refrence is about drinking rum in a cup. This is a very wholesome album and also a fantastic debut for Corinne. Everyone who is well expanded in their musical choices will love this Work of art.

Quality wholesome music... Now if I can just get my kids to listen

I try so hard to keep good music like this on and to get my kids to "tune into it". But unfortunately, they'd rather listen to what's "popular" with their friends, even though it's mostly talentless garbage and messages about "smacking it on the floor" (as in Akon) or other assorted songs that promote the idea that a girls best assets are her big bouncy parts. Ugh! Of course as any parent knows, trying to directly criticize anything that a teen likes is going to make them cling to it even harder, and they'll just seek out more of it... So in the meantime, I will try keep on the good music to see if I can get it to latch on the my kids without being so direct. Thank you Corinne for the great music.
