Why We Rated This on for Ages 10 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

The song innocently details a big crush, with lines like "Why do I keep running from the truth/all I ever think about is you/You got me hypnotized, so mesmerized..."

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

Although the song is all about infatuation, there are no overtly sexual lyrics.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About "Crush" (CD single)

Parents need to know that this first song off American Idol's up-coming album discusses a romantic crush. However, the lyrics are sweet and innocent and rarely even teeter toward sexual; instead they concentrate on the common teen emotions of insecurity, confusion, and euphoria.

i luv David and his music! Go out and but the alblum today it rocks!!!!!!!! WARNING: do not buy it for kids under the age of 8. The song talks about relationships and having a crush on someone and that is the last thing a kid under the age of 8 should think about.

    Decent.

A typical teen pop album about love, most especially crushes (Duh!). Choice songs from this album are: Crush, Too Not Over You, My Hand and Barriers. A pretty decent album and not too over the top.
