Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this pop single from MTV's Making the Band is age-appropriate and harmless. The lyrics talk about how a past breakup is ever present even when a new love comes along -- but relies on the man to fix a broken heart. The music video shows the girls in some skimpy outfits dancing a bit suggestively.

Families can talk about how being on a reality show such as Making the Band can make you a star. Should everyone who appears on the show be guaranteed fame and fortune? Do you think Danity Kane would've made it without the help of Diddy?

Common Sense Review

Reviewed By: Heidi Kotansky

"DAMAGE" is a pop song about wanting a new love to fix the broken heart caused by a former love.

Take five trendy pop/R&B wannabes and mold them into a band that seems disjointed, and you've got Danity Kane. It's a bit painful to listen to these girls as their voices soar an octave or two too high throughout the entire song. And, the lyrics are almost comical ("Do, do you got a first aid kit handy/Do, do you know how to patch up a wound tell me"). The most approachable aspect of the single is the repetitive electric dance beat, but by the end of the song, it slows down and eventually starts to drag too much, making it soon completely out of place with the rest of the song's rhythm. Maybe Shannon Bex, Aundrea Fimbres, Aubrey O'Day, Dawn Richard, and Wanita Woodgette will step it up for the rest of the tracks on their new album coming out on March 18th.

Note: Check back soon for our review of Danity Kane's upcoming album Welcome to the Dollhouse. In the meantime, for more pop artists that will make you want to dance, try Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and Janet Jackson.
