Common Sense Note

Parents need to know that this is the debut album from the MTV show Making the Band winners. There is some sexual innuendo, but the language is pretty clean.

Families can talk about the success of Making the Band and how this show relates to or fuels the success of the bands who are on it. Does it make a group more interesting? Does the involvement of hip-hop mogul Diddy make a difference?

Common Sense Review

Reviewed By: Jessica Dawson

DAY26 is the self-titled debut album from the winners of the MTV show Making the Band 4. They are hand-picked by hip-hop mogul Diddy himself and MTV viewers to be the "next ultimate boy band." Along with Diddy, the R&B album was produced by heavy hitters in the biz, Mario Winans and Bryan-Michael Cox.

Day26 has been called a mix between 112 and an urban *N Sync. No doubt, these boys can sing, and sing in harmony and all over the scale a hundred times and back again. There are some fresh attempts at mixes, but by track 5, boredom sets in. The lead single "Got Me Going" has a cool drum beat/hand clap-Will Smith thing going on, with some dramatic synthesizing and pretty piano and strings in the background. "I'm the Reason" keeps a jungle beat with drum rhythm and chiming that give it a little interest under the Jackson-esque vocals. After that, there ain't a whole lot to write home about, other than some very similar, slow, R&B beats that leave you wanting a little more of that Diddy "uumph."

For better R&B, check out Elliott Yamin, Ne-Yo, or B5.

Sexual Content

Some sexual innuendo: "We rockin' in my bed…different positions/touching, squeezing…so hot up in this room/like a summer's heat in June/got a suite that's made for two" and "Now let your body show me how to make good love…make you scream ohhh."

Violence

Language

A "damn" and a "bulls--t."

Commercialism

Obvious tie-in to the MTV show Making the Band. Mentions beer brand once.

Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco

A few references to drinking/clubs: "Unless I'm sippin' on some Bud" and "Put your drinks in the air/take em' straight to the dance floor."
