Why We Rated This on for Ages 13 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

A lot of wallowing; the big-picture message is that of using artistic self-expression to deal with tough circumstances.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

A few very veiled metaphors of the "like sabotage, I'm pulling the triggers back on myself" and "crippled bird" variety -- nothing obvious or too dark.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about Timbaland's chart-topping remix of the single "Apologize," which sounds different from the version on this CD. Which one do you like better? Listen to the song's chorus, "It's too late to apologize." Can you think of some circumstances in real life where you've felt that was true for you? Or do you believe that it's never too late to make amends?
