Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that this single from MTV's Making the Band winner is clean and extremely fun to listen to.
Families can talk about how being on a reality show such as Making the Band can make you a star. Should everyone who appears on the show be guaranteed fame and fortune? Do you think Day26 would've made it without the help of Diddy?
Common Sense Review
Reviewed By: Heidi Kotansky
"GOT ME GOING" is a beat-heavy song about being overwhelmed with someone -- without the naughty lyrics that flank most pop stars' songs today.
It may seem like a gimmick, but Diddy's Making the Band actually gathers and grooms talented singers and dancers to be the next big thing. Willie, Bryan, Robert, Mike, and Qwan, the group of talented guys who make up Day26, borrow a bit of the dance pop sound from Justin Timberlake (without the suggestive lyrics) and the earnest approach to love from Boyz II Men ("And I want you closer/I don't want to let go"). And, although the beat is pulsing and definitely a carrying force of this song, it doesn't overshadow the band's tight vocals. It also heavily encourages listeners to sing -- and dance -- along.
Note: Day26's new album comes out March 26th, so check back soon for our review. In the meantime, for more pop artists that will make you want to dance, try Justin Timberlake, Chris Brown, and Janet Jackson.
