What Parents Need to Know

About Here Come the ABCs

Parents need to know that it's never too early to expose children to imagination and musical taste. Here's a rare kids' album that doesn't talk down to anyone -- interesting enough to be fun for all ages; accessible and safe for the youngest in the family.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about good tricks that can help you memorize the alphabet. And then there's always those age-old games that revolve around the ABCs ("A" my name is Alice …).

    Great music for any age!

This album is perfect for my two-year olds. They Might Be Giants has been making fun, amazing music for decades, but the band's kid albums have become our household fave. Start with this album, then work your way through their other kids releases.

    Rockin' Kiddo Tunes

I love when my kindergartener asks to listen to this in the car. I sometimes find myself singing "The Alphabet of Nations" (Algeria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Dominica, Egypt, France, the Gambia. Hungary, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Libya and Mongolia. Norway, Oman, Pakistan. Qatar, Russia, Suriname. Turkey, Uruguay, Vietnam. "West Xylophone", Yemen, Zimbabwe!). Great tunes, great fun, and can actually make you smarter.
