What’s the Story?

This soundtrack to the popular TV movie is the mother lode of squeaky-cleanliness. Not only are the cast members of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL good kids who sing about falling in love and doing the right thing, but they're also getting involved in the right things at school. This CD makes theater look attractive the way All the Right Moves made kids of another generation want to play high school football. The music straddles the line between very light urban dance and show tunes.

Is It Any Good?

The CD will provide lots for tweens and parents to talk about as most kids are well aware of cliques and how peers react when anyone dares cross those lines. Though uncomplicated, the lyrics are clear and have a point. Standouts include "We're All in This Together" and "What I've Been Looking For."

Bottom line: High School Musical may encourage tweens to try something new and not limit themselves to what their friends think. Who knows, it may even inspire some "jocks" and "brains" to try out for their school play.
