Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs
What’s the Story?
Sesame Street's A-team producers and songwriters (Ed Mitchell, Christopher Cerf, Jeff Moss, Tony Geiss, Norman Stiles, and others) are the real stars of HOT! HOT! HOT! DANCE SONGS. Each song features familiar Sesame Street character voices camping it up over expertly-recorded tracks, and the lyrics are clever enough for the whole family to enjoy. The arrangements explore a variety of irresistibly danceable musical styles from Dixieland to disco (not to mention Charleston, reggae, Latin, and more).
Is It Any Good?
Highlights are Cookie Monster's goofy yet poignant "Me Lost Me Cookie at the Disco;" Kermit's reggae stylings on "Do de Rubber Duck" about all the stuff that happens when you take a bath; and the surprisingly soulful, girl group sound on "Silly Squirrel Dance" ("Now give your tail a shake, then you shout 'yahoo!'/hey, if you don't have a tail, then your neck will do") and "A New Way to Walk." There may be a more fun (and funny) way to get your kids to enjoy movement and dancing, but it's hard to imagine what it is.
