Common Sense Note
Mostly dance-party fluff, IT'S ABOUT TIME also delivers a couple of good strong relationship messages. "Oh Daddy" is about the aftermath of a father abandoning his family. On "I'm Sorry," Christina says no to a married man. The rest? Sexy dance tunes and an R&B ballad or two, clever innuendo with a wink and a smile.
Common Sense Review

Christina Milian continues her smooth transition from Disney Channel child star to pop diva with IT'S ABOUT TIME, a sparkling collection of mostly dance tunes. A New-Jersey-born Cuban-American child actress, Christina Milian has grown up to become the girl who has everything: looks (wow!), talent (singer-actor-dancer), and brains (really). On IT'S ABOUT TIME, she delivers one sexy dance tune after another--loaded with innuendo that's a bit cleverer than usual--with a rare spark of intelligence and a good-natured wink.
The lyrics don't have all that much to say, with a couple of startling exceptions. On the infectious "I Need More," Christina dumps a boyfriend who isn't treating her right, despite the fact that she still has feelings for him. Beginning with energetic guitar riffs, background vocals and handclaps, it's an irresistible dance song that actually has a positive message for girls. "Oh Daddy" is a poignant appeal to a father who "broke up with us and made a new family." "I'm Sorry" says no to a married man with polite sincerity.
The rest is sexy dance-party fluff with the occasional dreamy ballad thrown in. IT'S ABOUT TIME doesn't break any new ground, but it's a whole lot of well-produced fun.
