Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that this positive, peppy theme song from the hit TV show iCarly contains nothing that's at all inappropriate for kids.
Families can talk about why iCarly is so popular. Do you think the combination of the online world and TV is a big draw? Or do you think it's the stars? Also, how do you feel about actors and actresses crossing over into other careers (like music)? Do you think that fame alone guarantees success in another endeavor?

iCarly is one of the most popular shows on Nickelodeon, and millions of tweens visit iCarly.com each month. This song -- the show's theme -- is an upbeat track that's full of positive messages about seeing the brighter side of every situation, doing your best, taking chances, and realizing that some things are just meant to be.
The pop genre is so generic these days, especially when it comes to "singers" who are trying to cross over from acting. iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove sang casually when she was younger, and now the actress is following in the footsteps of fellow TV stars by dipping into the musical pool. Sometimes the new direction works, but usually it doesn't -- but in Cosgrove's case, it just might. On "LEAVE IT ALL TO ME," former costar Drake Bell (of Drake & Josh) lends his voice for muted backup accompaniment that can't really be heard throughout most of the song. It's Cosgrove's voice -- surprisingly decent and mature, perhaps a bit altered -- that stands out, extending beyond her 15 years. And the constant drum beat produces a watered-down, pop-friendly punk sound that's very easy to get stuck in your head. This isn't the most innovative or talented pop single, but it definitely beats a lot of what's out there for tweens today.
Other tween TV singers/actors: Jonas Brothers, Naked Brothers Band, or Miley Cyrus.
