Why We Rated This on for Ages 12 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

Lyrics seem to say it's OK to feel insecure, and tell the world about it.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

One or two violent images, with poetic license.
  • Sex:

    Nothing obvious.
  • Language:

"Crap" is as strong as it gets.
  • Consumerism:

A brand name or two mentioned.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

"We Are All On Drugs" seems to be anti-drug but is left open to interpretation.

What Parents Need to Know

About Make Believe

Parents need to know that the members of Weezer are a little whiny, but harmless.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about kids' feelings of insecurity, even if these 30-ish rockers ought to be over it by now.

    It's not bad

I'm listening to this for the first time in many months and it's not as bad I initially thought it was. When I first bought it I found it to very bland with a few exceptions but listening to it again it's still a little on the bland side but it's not a bad album by any means.

    Not Their Best...

I'd say any of their other four albums are better than this. It just doesn't live up to their standards.
