What Parents Need to Know

About Nancy Drew Soundtrack

Parents need to know that this is a perky, safe-for-kids soundtrack that's got a little pop, a little rock 'n' roll, some new wave, and even some hip-hop and R&B thrown in. There's no bad language, violence, or blatant sexuality, but the album does deal with themes tweens and teens can relate to -- not fitting in, being the new kid in school, devoted crushes, and having fun. It's very girl-friendly, with appearances from alternative rocker-chick favorites like Liz Phair and The Donnas, as well as a few other up-and-coming songstresses (and male songsters too).

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about how hard it is to be the new kid, and the struggles of balancing being yourself with fitting in and wanting to seem cool. Families can also talk about whether these songs are a good fit for the movie, and how well they match up with Nancy Drew's latest adventures. Several tracks on the soundtrack are brand new, recorded specially for the movie. Why were these artists chosen? Also, does the soundtrack make you want to see the movie? Do you like the songs because they were in the movie, or because they are just good songs?

A really fun movie to see with your daughter

My daughter says the best part was when Nancy fought off the villain and saved the day. I liked Nancy's creativity and ingenuity when solving mysteries. Her character is a good example of responsibility, modesty, kindness and compassion.
