What Parents Need to Know

About Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Soundtrack

Parents need to know that there are practically no lyrics on this soundtrack. While there's some violence in the movie, these sweeping, majestic orchestral arrangements are family-safe and set the mood for swashbuckling pirate play. Very young kids might be a little scared by the somewhat eerie choral vocals in "At Wit's End."

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the role of soundtracks. Do they make you want to see the movie or does the movie make you want to run out and buy the CD? Families can also talk about how much you notice the mood the music sets when you're watching a film. Would some of the key scenes in Pirates seem different with, say, a ragtime piano in the background? Because of the plot, a few of the musical moments of this film have a decidedly Asian feel. What instruments and melodies are used to evoke the Far East?

    Outstanding, Beautiful Music!

All orchestrational music besides the opening number, which is from the movie's opening scene. It is beautiful music, devoid of any objectionable content. Hans Zimmer is amazing! I can see the scenes from the movie playing out in my head as I listen. Highly recommended.

Great music for any Pirates fan!

This is by far the best soundtrack out of the three. I didn't really enjoy the first that much because it seemed like the same general themes played over and over again on every song, just with different instruments. The second had been my favorite because there was so much variety and you never really heard the same theme twice. Or at least you didn't notice it. But the third is amazing! I love how there is actually themes for more than just Jack and Davy Jones. Now there is a love theme for Will and Elizabeth, which is a beautiful tune. On the other two soundtracks, I chose 'favorite songs' which were usually the only ones I'd listen to, but on the third, I love them all. I must say that probably my favorite pieces are At Wit's End, Drink Up Me Hearties, One Day, and I Don't Think Now is the Best Time. The only thing with alchohol is the last song's title, Drink Up Me Hearties. But if you know Pirates well enough, you aren't suprised! :-) Overall, a great piece of work, but I all ready listen to soundtracks of all of my favorite movies. If you listen to rap, or other things, you might not be impressed. I know my sister isn't...
