Quiet Time
What’s the Story?
So, how many recordings of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" does your toddler own, and do you really need another one? Maybe, if you and your kids are true-blue Raffi fans. (If Raffi is unfamiliar to you, you may be better off starting your collection with one of his more upbeat and original offerings.) QUIET TIME is a combination of old favorites and (mostly retread) Raffi originals, but none of the tunes contain that guaranteed-to-stick-in-your-head factor of songs like "Baby Beluga." Be careful to save this music for genuinely sleepy moments. A tired parent on a long drive might succumb long before the restless toddlers in the back seat. Play at your own risk!
Is It Any Good?
You will find the usual excellent musicianship (note the pedal steel and flute tracks, which are especially lovely) and careful production -- and Raffi's warm inclusiveness on songs like "Fais Do Do" (performed in French) and "Like Me and You" ("Janet lives in England, Cara lives in France, Bonnie lives in Canada, Ahmed lives in Egypt, Moishe lives in Israel..."). Warning: Many of these songs have appeared as quieter moments on other Raffi CDs, so make sure you don't already have them before you buy.
