Common Sense Note
Parents need to know that most of these fun, friendly songs appear on many other CDs and compilations. Make sure you don't already have the whole collection before buying. Also, be prepared for some typical Disney marketing.
Families listening together can have a living-room dance party. Also, they can talk about compilations. What makes them attractive? How do you think the songs and artists get chosen? If you were going to make your own compilation, what would be on it?
Common Sense Review

RADIO DISNEY JAMS 8 includes a DVD on which young fans can watch five of the artists performing "live" tracks from the album. You can play "What's wrong with this picture?" on the silly Aly & AJ video -- the lip synching is so inept it's funny, and the girls are seen jumping around their living room playing acoustic guitars while the audio track is clearly electric...still, their take on the old Lovin' Spoonful classic amounts to more than a spoonful of infectious, kid-friendly fun.
The other videos are more imaginative, creatively combining real-life video of one clean-cut performer after another with clever animation. Even Hilary Duff, done up in black leather and performing in front of a huge audience (does she really draw crowds this big?), comes across as wholesome.
The audio CD includes many of the most recent teen pop chart-toppers, and includes one infectiously irresistible tune after another -- guaranteed to be a favorite with young Radio Disney fans. Great for a long car trip or family dance party, the CD includes songs by Aly & AJ, Jesse McCartney, Rihanna, Hilary Duff, The Click Five, Everlife, Avril Lavigne, and other sure-shots, and includes some special Radio Disney edits.
Just make sure, before buying, that you don't already have these songs on other discs. Just about all of them appear on other compilations.
