What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about what they think makes these songs so enjoyable -- is it the lyrics? The arrangements? The sense of humor that is incorporated? (They can also get up out of their chairs and rock their socks off!)

What's the story?

What's the story?
ROCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, Charity Kahn and the JAMband's third CD, is lively and should appeal even to very young children. With excellent musicians and interesting instrumental arrangements, the songs are also all danceable. Clever lyrics hold positive messages for young kids, celebrating small joyful moments in family life. "Travelin'" is about going on a road trip, "Super Hero" is about dress-up play (and finding out some super-special things about being you, while you're at it). "Towel Tango," "We Need Mud," and "Cake" about the simple pleasures found in a child's ordinary day. "Peace Dream" is an unusually poignant moment, interrupting the dance party with a little prayer for peace on earth.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Charity Kahn, as lead singer, is at her best when she lets her voice be itself -- natural and sweet, floating lightly above the perky music. Attempts to sound big and bluesy are less successful, but most of the vocals are appealing. Charity and the JAMband have found a formula for producing appealing, child-friendly music that doesn't talk down to kids. Presented in a variety of musical styles, all of the tracks are carefully and lovingly produced, and the vocals easy to understand.
