What Parents Need to Know
About Rough Guide to Latin Music for Children
Parents need to know that the 14 tracks on this lively album might cause involuntary salsa dancing around the kitchen during snack time. Kids will love jumping around to these songs, all culled from different Latin cultures, but parents might also be fooled into thinking these tunes are from the grown-up shelf.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about how the music of Latin America is so indelibly linked to its culture. It's fun to try some dance moves to these stirring tunes. Also, several of the songs come out of the slave tradition of the Afro-Caribbean coast. Families with older kids can read the colorful liner notes to find out how slavery in Venezuela resulted in the unique percussive music called golpe de Patanemo.
