Why We Rated This on for Ages 6 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

    It's all fine.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

Very young kids might wonder about "Little Drop of Poison" by Tom Waits.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Squeaky clean.
  • Consumerism:

Younger kids might miss the tongue-in-cheek delivery of "Fairy Godmother Song" ("With a flick of the wrist and just a flash/you land a prince with a ton of cash").
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Nothing to worry about.

What Parents Need to Know

About Shrek 2 Soundtrack

Parents need to know that this is a delightful soundtrack from a delightful movie. Very young, literal-minded kids might have questions about Tom Waits' deliciously evil "Little Drop of Poison," or miss the tongue-in-cheek ethos of "Fairy Godmother Song." But that's nitpicking -- it's all good clean (but interesting) fun. A great CD for road trips because it's kid-friendly but also entertaining for the adults.

    Hard to explain

This is hard to explain... some of the songs get kind of old after the first time the chorus is sung. I think they should have chosen better known artists... but other than that it's pretty good.
