Shrek 2 Soundtrack
What’s the Story?
The SHREK 2 SOUNDTRACK begins with the wonderfully upbeat "Accidentally in Love" by Counting Crows, and continues to delight, with an unusually rich collection of artists and songs from beginning to end. Very young, literal-minded kids might need to talk through Tom Waits' deliciously evil "Little Drop of Poison" ("I like my town with a little drop of poison/Nobody knows they're lining up to go insane/I'm all alone, I smoke my friends down to the filter/But I feel much cleaner after it rains"). But like the movie, this CD is amusing on so many different levels that older kids and parents won't be bored.
Is It Any Good?
Highlights are the Counting Crows and Tom Waits songs, as well as Frou Frou's "Holding Out for a Hero," and "Funkytown" by Lipps Inc. Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas manage to pull off a credible version of "Livin' La Vida Loca" without an ounce of musical talent between them. It's all great fun -- a rare "family CD" with something for everyone.
