The good stuff

Some mildly suggestive lyrics: "Cuz another brother noticed me/I'm up on him/He up on me."

  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About "Single Ladies" (CD Single)

Parents need to know that this is a spirited break-up anthem about getting back at a guy who took what he had for granted. The song smacks of revenge, but there's also a message of empowerment, because Beyonce is clearly having fun. There are a few suggestive lyrics, but they're mild overall.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the song's lyrics, which suggest that if a guy wants to stay with a girl, he needs to buy her a ring. Does that really solve everything? Do you agree that sometimes you don't really miss someone or something until it's gone? Have you ever taken something for granted? What happened?

Mess with Beyonce and GET A SONG IN YOUR EAR!!!!!

Beyonce has taught her men to treat her right! Just ask "all the Single Ladies!" Other than the reference, "Got him tighter than my Dereon Jeans" and "I'm up on him, up on me" a couple of times, fine song! Positive message: the girl isn't gonna be treated wrong like that, or she'll fire back!!!! GO BEYONCE!!!!

It's ridiculous how catchy and fun this song is. There's a bit of innuendo that you probably won't notice as you bop along to the beat.

I, personally, love this song and don't see a problem in youngsters listening to it. It's a fun, sassy song with a good tune and a true message. Really young kids won't have a clue what it's about anyway.
