SINGLE LADIES (PUT A RING ON IT) is a thumping groove-shaker. The story is a familiar one: Guy takes girl for granted and shies away from commitment; girl dumps him and hits the clubs for a night out with the single ladies; girl enjoys attention from a new guy while the old one looks on.

Is It Any Good?

"Single Ladies" definitely delivers on what Beyonce does best. It's sassy and noisy, with backup singers galore. It almost sounds like a cheerleading chant, and its sing-song style brings back memories of Toni Basil's "Hey Mickey." The song's "If you like it, then you should have put a ring on it" chorus is sure to become the mantra for girls fresh out of dead-end relationships everywhere.
