`Sneakernight` (CD Single)
What’s the Story?
Wait, what are we going to do? After listening to Vanessa Hudgens say over and over again "basically, what we're gonna do is dance," you may have an idea. The first single from her upcoming album is a tame, energy-infused pop song talking about getting on the dance floor.
Is It Any Good?
Hudgens' appeal to young girls is obvious -- she's pretty, popular, and doesn't try too hard to be a Britney Spears or even a Miley Cyrus these days who are either overtly sexual or omnipresent or both. Kudos to the Disney star. But, in that same vain, "SNEAKERNIGHT" seems to try too hard to be wholesome and the result is actually quite immature. The lyrics are so simplistic that they border on trite. "Are you ready/did you eat/do you have the energy…basically, what we're gonna do is dance." The beat, however, is anything but basic and certainly will appeal to young ears, especially those that love to dance.
