Why We Rated This on for Ages 13 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

    Not an issue.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

One track could be interpreted as a cautionary tale about teen suicide.
  • Sex:

Lots of love stuff, but nothing graphic.
  • Language:

    An occasional "hell" or "ass."
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

One or two mentions of drinking and/or smoking.

What Parents Need to Know

About Soundtrack to Your Life

Parents need to know that there are just a couple of questionable words in the lyrics ("ass," "hell"). Most tracks are sappy love songs, but one could be interpreted as a cautionary tale about teen suicide.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about metaphor in song lyrics. Is there a deeper meaning here, or should the lyrics be taken at face value? They can also talk about the fact that an MTV show helped promote this CD -- would the CD have done as well without the TV tie-in?

    Loved it.

Yeahhh i pretty much thought most of the songs were great. You have to listen to it. And like most songs of today, it doesn't have bad language or anything.
