Superhero
What’s the Story?
Popping onto the tween music scene with very youthful energy -- the band ranges in age from 12-14 -- and open devotion, are Noah (lead vocals, guitar), Issac (vocals, keys), Michael (vocals, bass), David (drums), and Anthony (lead guitar), the five members of the Christian pop rock band, Mission Six. Debuting their first album, SUPERHERO, the band's style emulates the popular Jonas Brothers, but with inspirational lyrics to encourage a life lived for God.
Is It Any Good?
Christian music has come a long way, and with Mission Six's Superhero, it has come even further. They sing about God, living your path, and trying to make a difference, but with captivating rhythms and simple, non-obtrusive lyrics. The vocals, at times, are a little squeaky, but, then again they're barely teens. Superhero is full of music to inspire and encourage; in the first track, the floppy-haired do-gooders profess, "We write our future today/with every choice we make/every word we say." Isn't this what we want our kids to realize? In the versatile "Star Warz," bass thumps anchor the declaration, "Wish that I could make a difference/save the planet everyday../created for a special purpose/gonna live like that today." Mission Six gives their bubble-gum rock a positive purpose and that alone is worth a listen for impressionable ears. Don't worry -- they're far from bible beaters -- but their steadfast faith, especially today, is refreshing.
