  • Is it any good?

    2.0
  • Common Sense says

So-so; there are better sanitized compilations.

Why We Rated This on for Ages 10 and Up

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Boyfriends are cheating two timers in "Fighter."
  • Violence:

    There are no violent references.
  • Sex:

Although the reference may escape some listeners, unwed pregnancy is alluded to in "Sk8ter Boi" ("Five years from now she sits at home feeding the baby she's all alone.")
  • Language:

Not all innuendo has been erased. "Intuition" declares, "You got something that you want me to sell/ Sell your sin. Just cash in."
  • Consumerism:

    There are no commercial tie-ins.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

"Gin" becomes "drinks" in "All That Jazz," but the song retains approving references to nightly brawls.

What Parents Need to Know

About Top Pop 2

Parents need to know that in the growing market for sanitized albums of tween tunes that preserve a rocking beat while erasing sexual innuendo, this CD is less diligent than some of its competitors in keeping it squeaky clean.
