What’s the Story?

On the beautifully produced UNPREDICTABLE, Jamie Foxx calls in a few favors from friends. Ludacris, Twista, The Game, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kanye West, and Common all support the artist with their usual spirit and professionalism, but they seem to serve another purpose as well. By providing the most explicit of the sexy lyrics, the guest rappers allow Jamie Foxx to stay calm, cool, smooth, and elegant while still turning in a highly charged, very adult album. Two highlights are the exquisite "Love Changes," featuring Mary J. Blige, and the closing song, "Wish U Were Here," a sentimental love letter to a departed loved one.

Is It Any Good?

The content is sexy all the way, with lyrics that most parents will agree aren't for kids. One song, "Extravaganza" (featuring guest star Kanye West) describes getting too drunk to remember much and winding up in a hotel room with "this pretty little thing from Memphis, Tennessee." Other songs are more risqué and straight-ahead, describing the joys of the chase, the fun of watching great-looking women dance, and the anticipation of getting them alone later in the evening. All in all, the songs showcase Jamie Foxx's exceptional R&B instincts and talents. As a sexy soul singer and instrumentalist, he's truly amazing.
