Parents need to know that the CD offers well-produced, Broadway-type music. It's easy on the ears, but surprisingly light on educational value for what it is.
WEE BEE TUNES TRAVEL ADVENTURE -- GET YOUR PASSPORT! works well as a musical CD. The historical facts might prompt some discussion: for example, the "famous market" in Istanbul. What do you imagine a cultural crossroads would look like in 1453 AD? Would it be a "shopping mall" as we know it? You could talk about the various instruments and music styles that are specific to each continent. The Maori chanting sounds very realistic, for example, as does the Turkish music styling.
The melodies on the CD are catchy and much more enjoyable without the over-stimulating animation on the DVD. Some voices that reflect different cultures can sound a bit forced, almost verging on stereotyped, but this is pretty minor. The attempts to relay history work at some points, but come off as being very strained at other moments. Overall, it's a well-produced CD.
Families can talk about some of the historical facts presented here as a springboard into more research or a family discussion.
