Yummy Yummy
What’s the Story?
Self-conscious about walking into the record store to ask for an album titled YUMMY YUMMY by a group called the Wiggles? No need: you've got company numbering in the millions, as the records of this Australian foursome have gone gold and platinum Down Under and around the world. On the album, the Wiggles sing about food, animals, numbers, and dancing with catchy rhythms and a smile. "Hot Potato" and "Shaky Shaky" encourage kids to get up and dance, and "Fruit Salad" inspires them to help make a fruit salad – and to eat it.
Is It Any Good?
Their approach is not novel: the all-male quartet sings familiar tunes with easy harmonies and upbeat guitar accompaniment. But what sets the Wiggles apart is their engaging personalities and their sense of fun. They love what they're doing, and they communicate that, whether on their music videos or their CDs.
Yummy Yummy is no exception. Parents will find these tunes amusing despite repeated playings, and boys like them as much as girls, so it's an ideal album for the family.
