  • Sex:

The song is sprinkled with innuendo about sexual positions and oral sex with direct references to sexual pleasure.

Although there's no profanity, the explicit sexual content is enough to make this song inappropriate for young ears.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About "Birthday Sex" (CD single)

Parents need to know that this song is ALL about sex. Jeremih sings about how he treats a woman on her birthday and it's a far cry from cake and ice cream. The sexy talk isn't misogynistic, instead focusing on catering to a female companion's every desire. Not kid-appropriate, but not insulting either.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about why sex sells. Do you think this song would be as popular as it is if it was about a tamer subject? What do you think when you hear the song played on the radio? Is it the type of song you want to listen to with a group of friends? If so, does the frank sex talk make the subject matter acceptable?
