What parents need to know

Parents need to know that the third single from Britney Spears' Blackout is about the same thing most of the other songs on the album are about: sex. She uses both subtle -- and not-so-subtle -- language to arouse a male counterpart. The cartoon music video features an anime version of Britney (looking nothing like her), and although there's one animated kiss, it isn't racy at all.

  • "We can turn the heat up if you wanna/Turn the lights down low if you wanna/Just wanna move you/But you're froze up/That's what I'm saying/Can you rise/To the occasion…And I can't get enough/So let me get it up" says it all.

What's the story?

"BREAK THE ICE" is about sex -- something Britney loves to sing about. The lyrics of this pop dance track aren't really that graphic, but are highly suggestive and get to the point.

Is it any good?

Britney fans had to enter two "secret" passwords (they were provided) on BlackoutBall.com to view the premiere of the anime music video of "Break the Ice" featuring a cartoon version of the paparazzi's favorite celeb in a Mission Impossible-esque operation. Considering the constant train wrecks Britney has been having recently in front of the camera, it was probably better for her not to be on the screen, letting listeners instead focus on and appreciate the song and its pop-infused fun. She hits all the notes in this single, stressing the important ones and staying well in her vocal range. The bumpin' electronic drum baseline -- although replaced by a slowed down break at the end -- will have any teen practicing some dance moves in front of the mirror.

Really Fun Beat; Iffy Sexual Content
This song is very iffy with the sexual themes that are very questionable. The beat makes it a perfect sleepover tune for 15 and up, though. Just pre-listen for kids under 15.
