"Burnin' Up" (CD single) (by Jonas Brothers, Pop)

common sense media says

Familial sensation heats up the charts.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this single is just a wee little steamier for the Jonas Brothers than the typical campy stuff we've heard from them in the past as the boys lament about a girl that they're hot for. It's still fine for tweens, though. The video is a tame James Bond-esque montage of the band fighting crime and saving the ladies from peril.

Positive messages: Not applicable.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Innocent enough, but a tiny, teeny bit suggestive: "High heels, red dress/all by yourself/gotta catch my breath…I'm slipping into the lava/I'm trying to keep from going under/Baby, you turn the temperature hotter/'cause I'm burning up, burning up, for you baby."
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Obvious tie-in to the Jonas Brothers and all things Disney.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about Disney's marketing machine. Everything the company touches turns to gold. How are they so successful with their tween audience? What do you imagine a day in the marketing department is like? How do you think they know what kids are interested in?

What's the story?

What's the story?
The first single from their upcoming album A Little Bit Longer, BURNIN' UP is about the boys' temperature rising when they think about a girl. The lyrics are a tiny bit more direct and mature, but still completely fine for tweens -- especially girls. The song also features a rap from their bodyguard, Big Rob. In the video, the brothers are hanging poolside reading a script that has Nick playing James Bond, Joe in Miami Vice mode, and Kevin doing kung fu. What's a girl not to love about this adorable trio playing action heroes?

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

The Jonas Brothers sure know how to turn up the heat for their fans. "Burnin' Up" is definitely a catchy little ditty that will capture the hearts of tween girls everywhere. They'll no doubt all want to be the girl that Nick, Joe, and Kevin are singing about, but whether they are or not, they'll still love this fun pop-rock number that these boys are so famous for churning out.

Disney Churning Out More Overrated Pop Songs!
The music of "Burnin' Up" is poorly mixed; the bass is barely audible, and the drums sound very sloppy. The singing is better than on there other records, but they strain their voices at some parts, like always. Last but not least, the lyrics are atrocious and cheesy. Not meaning to advertise or promote, but another teen band named Red Barrett has placed very interesting music on Youtube that has a classic rock feel and could easily rival these second-hand pop stars. In all, this song is completely atrocious.

ack this is terrible
i hate this song it is VULGER AND DISCUSTING in a stupid way. Nick jonas goes into WAY to many high notes, joe jonas is a bad singer all in all, kevin looks like a girl. And in the music video nick jonas is dating selena gomez ACK its discusting, i mean Selena+nick=a bad acting bad singing and a bad haired ugly baby who is self-centered ACK

I love this song!!!!!
It's one of those songs that you just can't get enough of! The video is really cool and kind of like a action movie! There is nothing bad about this song at all and I love it! Don't forget that The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato are going on their Burning Up tour this summer!

Jonas Brothers meets Maroon 5
The chorus of "Burnin' Up" sounds similar to the chorus of "Makes Me Wonder" by Maroon 5, except there's no sexual references. The music video for "Burnin' Up" is similar to the video for "Wake Up Call" by Maroon 5, except there's no sex or violence. This song will no doubt have girls screaming and singing along to.
