Parents need to know that while the songs aren't instructional by nature, most of the tracks are classics, and just hearing them can be considered a cultural experience. Note that the word "hell" appears in "There Ain't No Bugs on Me."
What's the story?
Anchoring the music collection of A CHILD's CELEBRATION OF FOLK MUSIC are songs by folk giants Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, two artists who led the folk music revolution over 50 years ago. Other legends include Doc Watson, the bluegrass guitar hero, and the soulful a cappella group Sweet Honey In The Rock. Buckwheat Zydeco's smoking Cajun rendition of the "Crawfish Song" is a standout.The album does include a Raffi song, but most of the artists are established adult entertainers who have recorded great albums for kids as well.
Is it any good?
This CD is an excellent choice for anyone interested in folk music for children. Those who have heard these masterful artists before will enjoy the familiar voices as well as the fresh interpretations of great old songs. Folk music novices will get an inspiring survey of the best the folk world has to offer kids.

I never tired of hearing this album over and over and over again
We started listening to this album when my child was very young. I was so happy to have found it. The quality of the selection of songs was so great! I gave as gifts many CD's of "A Child's Celebration of Song" for friends with young children. The music is folk, fun and easy to listen to. My family listened to this album for years, we all did, over and over and over again.
If you are concerned about a single "bad" word in one otherwise hilarious song--just think, it is an opportunity to teach your child what you think of that language--which by the way, can be heard anywhere you go.
We have never had trouble with our child taking on that sort of language as a result of hearing it in a song--or at a restaurant.
I recommend this album highly.
