What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this CD is all about Josh Groban's amazing and powerful voice.

  • Much of this CD is in Italian, so who knows? Seriously--it's clean, clean, clean.
  • Nothing blatantly commercial, unless the fan club insert counts.
  • The only intoxicant is Josh Groban's remarkable voice.

What's the story?

CLOSER is Josh Groban's second CD on a major label, released when he was only 22 and not yet out of school. Yet his voice is already truly remarkable. "Oceano" and "My Confession" show off the singer's dramatic range (if this guy isn't performing in Broadway musicals, he should be). He manages a beautiful vocal take of Bacalov's "Il Postino" with a little help from classical violin virtuoso Joshua Bell. And he flexes his songwriting muscle with a couple of co-written originals: "Per Te" and "Remember When It Rains."

Is it any good?

Groban packs a studied emotional wallop on the CD, a dramatic offering with operatic ambiance, produced by mentor David Foster. Melodramatic throughout, this is not teen party music. It is achingly beautiful, powerful vocal talent showcased with understated intelligence. It will be fascinating to see how Josh Groban matures as an artist over time; his voice is already there.

Not my style but the boy has got talent
Josh Groban is not really my style but the guy can sing. He shows that he has talent and that he knows just how 2 use his vocal range. Again I am not what I would consider a fan but, I know enough to realize that just because he doesn't use funky beats it doesn't mean he isn't good. This cd will help u relax if u are in a tired mood. Nice job Josh. U truely have talent.

For all ages- just beautiful!!!
Josh Groban is a singer whose voice can be used to soothe a baby or to relax a stressed out teenager. Whenever I'm feeling anxious or I can't sleep, I just turn on Josh and I feel much better! You can't go wrong by buying this CD- trust me, you will not regret it!

An excellent way to introduce kids to classical music
We have spent quite a bit of time and effort keeping our 7 yr old away from "questionable" lyrics and music. She absolutely loves Josh Groban and has managed to swipe the CD to listen to every night. This is an excellent way to introduce younger children to more classical forms of music.

Josh Groban has the voice of an Angel
Josh Groban is an amazing singer. His voice lifts a person up to a higher place, and you feel so relaxed and free from the stressful world you are living in. His voice is of an angel; something that was a gift from heavin, given to this one man. I listen to him when I am feeling down, and am lifted up again. There is nothing bad about his music. That's another quality I love about him. His lyrics are very clean, and still convey their message. Entirely recommended.

AMAZING!!
I'm not a fan of classical music, and if I listen to it, I want it to be stuff I recognize, like from movies and stuff. Josh Groban is amazing and has upbeat music. Almost a modern type of opera/classical/pop or something. Can't tell if there is language in the Italian songs, but there are none in the English. No sex, some comments about loving a girl and stuff. Nothing else. I highly recommend, though be careful about his second CD, which has one swear word in the song "Weeping".

Why does this man have a better soprano than me!?
Awesome.. pure awesome. I heard him first in chorus, I was actually crying listening to it, and I got this CD for Christmas. The man has some serious talent.. my gosh. I'm listening to "Believe" from Polar Express- sung by him. It's sad people with really good talent aren't shown nearly as much. Keep singing Josh Groban.

I love Josh Groban. His music is the greatest. He's magical, I swear. All you have to do is just listen to him and you'll find that your heart has opened up and pouring out everything inside you whether it be in the form of tears, or just plain memories. I recommend this CD to everyone. It's way better than the other music people think is cool in this day and age.
