common sense media says

Idol sings kid-safe, expressive songs.

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that kids might want this album because its star is an American Idol alum. Happily, there's no need to worry: The grown-up, rockin' sound is backed by some pretty family-safe lyrics. All of the sexuality and edge on this CD is in its soulfully expressive vocals and intense instrumental arrangements.

Positive messages: "Everybody Loves" is a sweet song with a "we're all in this together" message.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Constantine's sound is sexy and intense, but the lyrics are not explicit ("I thought it was something/Didn't mean nothing" and "Too many lights are burning out/You always find a way to bring this wasted world back into focus").
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Nothing obvious in the lyrics. CD package unavailable for review.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the phenomenon of American Idol winners releasing huge-selling albums. Do you think Constantine would have made it on his own, without the benefit of exposure on the popular TV show? Kids: Why do you want to buy this CD?

What's the story?

What's the story?
American Idol alum Constantine Maroulis engages his fans in a nonstop intense-a-thon with CONSTANTINE, which has one hard-driving, emotionally wrought song after another. The album starts out with a bang, as Constantine puts his best songs forward. "Girl Like You," with its Santana-like guitar riffs; the retro-soul sound of "Several Thousand"; and the irresistibly hopeful "Everybody Loves" are all gems.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Fond of anthem-esque dynamic builds and "wall-of-sound" background vocals, Constantine takes some pretty ordinary material and tears its heart and soul out, delivering a powerful and dramatic collection of rockin' love songs. Though the material slides toward mediocre as the band plays on, lead vocals are impressive throughout.

Fun for the whole family.
I bought this CD because I was a fan of Constantine on American Idol, but after playing it a few times in the car my 7 year-old requests it regularly. The first song is particularly catching and several are reminiscent of the classic 80's sound. Listen and enjoy!

Constantine
I enjoy this CD very much and like most of the songs. It's a very eclectic CD. Song genres for everyone, pop, rock, a little touch of R&B. It's a very nice mix. My favorites are Everybody Loves, Girl Like You, Fading Into You and Heaven Help the Lonely. Vocals are great! IMHO

Loved It!
Constantine's vocals on this solo CD really shine! His passion for performing is also apparent in his music! I highly recommend this CD if you are tired of listening to music that all sounds alike!
