common sense media says

Violent, misogynistic, and alcohol-soaked rap.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that although this song is getting lots of press for being such a huge hit, it's definitely not for kids -- no matter how much they may argue that their friends have downloaded it! Although there is a smattering of expletives throughout the song, the tone of misogyny and immorality is what makes this single a no-go for anyone under 17.

Positive messages: The rap single begins with Eminem introducing himself with these lyrics: "In this corner, weighing 175 pounds,
with a record of 17 rapes, 400 assaults, and 4 murders,
the undisputed, most diabolic villain in the world:
Slim Shady!"
Violence: Eminem introduces himself by bragging that he is a rapist and murder.
Sex: The chorus includes the lyrics, "O-oh o-oh, bitches hopping in my Tahoe, got one riding shotgun and no not one of them got clothes,
now where's the rubbers? Whose got the rubbers?
I noticed there's so many of them
and there's really not that many of us." Although the song marginally promotes safe sex, women, or bitches, as they are continually referred to in the song, are portrayed as disposable sex toys.
Language: Bitch is frequently used in the song and there are also a few s--ts and f--ks. The "N" word is used once by 50 Cent. Eminem also makes a lewd comment about male genitalia.
Consumerism: Not applicable.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: The song's title sums it up: Crack a Bottle, encouraging listeners to open up some bottles of alcohol and get the party started. As 50 Cent raps, "It's bottle after bottle,
the money ain't a thang when you party with me." There's also brief allusions to drunk driving and smoking marijuana.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about why this song is so popular. Do you think the immediate success of the song is due to Eminem's inactivity in recent years? Do you think it can sometimes help an artist to drop out of the spotlight and then wage a comeback? Can you think of any other artists who have had successful comebacks?

What's the story?

What's the story?
CRACK A BOTTLE received a record-breaking 418,000 downloads in its first week online. The single, for now, holds the title for best sales in its opening week. Of course, one major reason for the success of the single is due to the lyrical draught rap audiences have been experiencing from Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent. Eminem has been on a nearly four-year hiatus and this release marks his re-emergence to the music scene. This song is off the album Relapse.

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Collaborations seem to be a sure-fire means to success in the rap game. Take three or four popular rappers, group their rhymes together and you got yourself a hit. Many times however the result is an incoherent mess of verses. But on this single, Eminem keeps things running smoothly by not only setting the tone with on-point raps, but providing a chorus that is instantly appealing. As far as lyrical content goes, there's nothing dramatically new here -- the rappers cover the same territory that has always worked for them in the past. With its misogynistic, gross, and violent imagery, this song is for grown-up rap fans only.

eminem is always funny but curses a lot same with dr dre, 50 cent. eminem says lots of random things that parents wont like like dr dre here for 400 assualts 17 rapes 40 murders.and the grossest line iv ever heard eminem say it was lick the cheese from under my nuts kiss my butt. it was sick

Great Song
Really nothing bad in it, if you've heard other Eminem songs you'll be fine. But it really isn't as offensive as some others

All four people are bad role models, even a two year old can tell its about getting drunk, and there is some langauge. very iffy for 13-15, but fine for 16+ as long as you really know your kid.

DISGUSTING BUT ITS A GOOD SONG
ITS PRETTY GOOD I HAVE TO SAY. THE EXPLICIT SYMBOL IS BECAUSE OF 50 CENT'S WORDS. SEXUAL CONTENT/VIOLENCE IS 400 ASSUALTS 17 RAPES AND 30 MURDERS PLUS THE SONG IS CALLED CRACK A BOTTLE GET IT! ITS ABOUT ALCHOL!? IT'S REALLY GOOD BUT STREAM IT BEFORE YOU HEAR IT.

Im only thirteen and i downloaded this song. im not a big rap fan but when i heard crack a bottle i totally loved it! it does have some explicit lyrics but the song has a great rythm, not to mention a beat

Disappointed
This song was a disappointment after I listened to it because it has less rapping and Eminem can do better. I understand that he was not used to rapping after the break he took. He still has some of the bad behavior, but not as much. He was more positive in behavior in "When I'm Gone". This song has about 6 uses of b***h and a few others. There is also some strong sexuality and mention in beginning that he is a killer but that is the only violence. There is some explicit material.

Dope single off before i self destruct
1st was Get Up then this and then I get it in. 3 dope singles from before i self destruct. Ok for 14+.

Onoz.
This song is offensive, sexual, violent, and generally a terrible influence. But catchy. Now and then I listen to music I don't have to feel anything; listen to the rythm of the words, not what they say. I listen to his song My Dad's Gone Crazy. Offensive but catchy. So I listen now and again. Mature teens only.

i don't at all think that it should even be aloud because of all of eminems bad words.i don't know how he listens to himself say the words to the song.
