What parents need to know

Parents need to know this album has no parental advisory label, and comes in one version only. The content is mature, however, with sex the chief topic, explicitly pronounced. Even in "Gift From Virgo," where Beyonce suggests abstinence ("One day we'll make love/ I'll finally be yours"), she also sings about spending time together in a hotel room.

Positive messages: In "Me, Myself, and I," Beyonce rants about a cheating boyfriend, living with him and his three kids, and making herself her own best friend; but in "Yes," she dumps a boyfriend who won't wait for her.
Violence: There are no descriptions of physical violence.
Sex: In "Naughty Girl," she croons, "Tonight I'll be your naughty girl/ I know you want my body/ … You're so sexy, tonight I am all yours boy." "Be With You," "Speechless," and "Hip Hop Star" are more explicit.
Language: There are no obscenities or foul language, but parents may object to the repeated sexual references in songs like "Yes," "Be With You," and "Naughty Girl."
Consumerism: Other than a few references to convertibles and chinchilla fur, the tracks have little to say about brand names or material goods.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: There are no references to drugs or alcohol.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about what make Beyonce such a popular singer. Does the fact that she often sings about sex have anything to do with the popularity?

What's the story?

What's the story?
DANGEROUSLY IN LOVE showcases Beyonce and her growing talent and confidence. In "Crazy in Love" she teams with Jay-Z to craft a hip-hop duet, backed by snappy percussion and horns, that sounds better with each spin. In "Naughty Girl" Beyonce borrows Donna Summer's hook from "Love to Love You Baby" and makes it her own with searing lyrics and a hypnotic synth chorus. Beyonce sizzles in "Hip Hop Star" with Big Boi and Sleepy Brown, whispering lyrics that may go too far for some parents ("Do you want to get nasty/ I dare you to undress me"), but cooling down in "The Closer I Get To You," a ballad with Luther Vandross.

Is it any good?

In this, her first solo album, Beyonce is sexy, insistent, and hard to forget.

I definitely loved this CD. it was very enjoyable to listen to riding in the car on a sunny day. Sex- 5: Nothing major but then again not mild Violence-0 Language-6: Some language but again nothing you havent heard on the radio. Drug Lyrics- 0 Commercialism-4: The cover booklet is rather risque. Beyonce's "Dangerously in Love" was a gigantic hit, but did it deserve to be? Not really. The CD is ok, but nothing spectacular. Anyways, sex gets very explicit on "Hip Hop Star", "Be With You", and "Speechless". There is a little minor language. Suitable for teens.

5/10 rating.....
This is a cool album. My favorite on this is Crazy In Love. Not the best CD, I don't have it, don't really want it. Beyonce is a powerful artist and really puts meaning and girl power into her music. The picture for it is pretty bad.

An independent voice for families
