I really love AFI's variety in sounds. Yeah, they use a lot of dark imagery, and "suicide" is a frequent word, but it's not like they're encouraging listeners to kill themselves. They are VERY poetic, and straight-edge--I have no idea what drug references YOU'RE talking about, and I've listened to this album countless times. Loverly. My favorite song is "On the Arrow," but the most accessible would be "Miss Murder." If you like a broad range of alternative music, you should try this out. P.S. @Dawgas: Who are you to say your child has no taste in music? Even if I had a kid and s/he wanted to listen to brainless music with terrible (and terribly boring) lyrics, I'd still let him/her listen. Aren't parents supposed to help their children blossom, not stifle their interests?

Good but dark band is OK for tweens and teens.
Good band. Only bad thing is some violent and suicidal lyrics. OFF for age 8 and under, IFFY for age 9, and ON for ages 10 and up.

AFI is one of my favorite bands, and this is an excellent CD. Although this is a great album, some songs can be depressing, and the messages aren't the brightest I've ever seen.

There is poetry in despair
AFI are like Napoleon Dynamite. Either you hate them to death or you love them to death. I happen to practice the latter because their music is so poetic and just, dare I say, beautiful. Give this CD a few listens to and it'll grow on you quick. Decemberunderground does not have the bonus track, On the Arrow (full of acoustic beauty), but you can get it on iTunes. It's well worth the price of the whole album. This album is not filled with teenage angst. It's filled with emotion. If you research the background behind Decemberunderground, you'll find that it paints a picture of love, sorrow, and suicide. AFI are excellent, positive role models: because of them, I am now vegetarian. Because of them, I promise to never drink or do drugs. Their music may sound "emo" or depressing, but they are probably THE most positive people you will ever meet. I gave Decemberunderground a 13+ rating because I feel that you have to be more mature to appreciate it fully.

REAL GOOD!!
I've listened to this CD and honestly it's VERY good. I mean, this isn't a piece of crap quoting some people. I think if you guys like this you should listen to AFI's previous CD,"Sing the Sorrow". It's almost like DECEMBERUNDERGROUND but DECEMBERUNDERGROUND is much, much better!!!

People!
These guys are an emo band. You're not supposed to think they're happy, nice, whatever. This is a good CD, with great songs, especially Miss Murder.

afi is a good band
ya afi is good. miss murder is their best song probably but ive only heard like 1 full afi song(miss murder). from content list it is a good band but looks a little suicidal, not like cradel of filth or norma jean because i assume that if they are death metal they will be suicidal. this is nothing like them though(no duh). its good

AFI is my favorite band, and this CD is amazing
all i can say about AFI is: pure brilliance. this is my favorite band in the world, and this cd is great. the cd makes me cry every time, and the song 'the interview' is great. i am a member of the despair faction, and own all of their cd's. i definitely recommend this. it's not as good as sing the sorrow or art of drowning, but it's next in line! as davey havok said: "decemberunderground is a time and place. it is where the cold can huddle together in darkness and isolation. it is a community of those detached and disillusioned who flee to love, like winter, in the recesses below the rest of the world." that's my favorite quote- this cd gets 5 stars from me!

Amazing!
AFI is my third favorite band, and this album is great. No swearing, the references to drugs are king of hard to hear (Kill Caustic). It is just kinda violent throughout. Great for any kid who likes angsty music.

Very good album by a very good band.
Decemberunderground is a very decent album from AFI. While there is much talk about suicide, it isn't in a negative ("OOOOOHHHHH, KILL YOURSELF NOW") way. The members of AFI are straight edge, so there is not an issue with drugs or alcohol, and there is little to no language. AFI have crafted what I view to be one of their most abitious works to date.
