What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Dream with Me is a super-clean album featuring classical foreign-language mainstays like "O Mio Babbino Caro" alongside English-language hits throughout the decades, from "When You Wish Upon a Star" (Judy Garland) to "Angel" (Sarah McLachlan). It's a great pick for parents who want to introduce their young kids to classical music -- and highlight a good role model to boot -- though they should note that some songs reference religion.

What's the story?

DREAM WITH ME is the first full-length CD from Jackie Evancho -- the 10-year-old classical singing sensation with the very adult voice who took second place in the TV show America's Got Talent. The album is filled with 14 songs that run the gamut from old-world classical standbys like "Ombra Mai Fu," to newer classics from other genres, such as "Somewhere" by Barbra Streisand (who sings along with Evancho in this version) and "Angel" by Sarah McLachlan. With no mature content or language to be found (though some parents will want to know that religious references are included in certain songs), the CD is a positive pick for younger audiences who are just beginning to cut their teeth on classical music.

Is it any good?

Evancho's talent is undeniable (and amazing), especially given her very young age. She takes care with every one of her soprano notes, nailing her vocals again and again in these tunes. While her duo performances on "Somewhere" with Barbra Streisand and "A Mother's Prayer" with Susan Boyle demonstrate that she's still got a ways to go before she actually is an adult, Jackie certainly has a bright future ahead.
