Two words: LOVE IT!! And the jewel of its crown is My Immortal. It is beautiful, it is dark and it is meaningful. while it seems pretty dark, it is the perfect song to listen to, if you are sad or alone, almost like the music of the soul. Thing is, the song seems dark and describes pain and fear if you listen closely. Other than that beautiful and meaningful soundtrack!
I love Evanesence. My favorite song of teirs has to be Bring me to life. Nothing bad really in this cd. A good cd to start tweens into todays rock music. Bye now!
I think Evanescence is one of the best bands out there. They know what they are singing about. Esp. Amy Lee. She has been through so much and expresses it in song. If your child has been through a lot they will understand this cd more than others.
Depressing album wins due to beautiful, fragile vocals.
It's a little dark and depressing, but is excellent with Amy Lee's pure vocals. I recommend Bring Me To Life. My Immortal is very depressing and is probably the darkest song on this album.
I started listening to Evanescence when I was around 10, I think (I heard it when I was even younger since my older sister would listen to it, but not really that much) and while it's dark and gothic, the music is very good and catchy.
FALLEN WAS A MASTERPIECE! I happen to own the original album myself, and I kept listening to it over and over and...well, you get the point. Anyway, Amy Lee (Now Amy Hartzler, CONGRATS ON YOUR MARRIAGE!) has such a pure, emotional voice. The lyrics and vocals have captured a sense of emotion, that is beautifully composed into songs. The dark poetic language is beautiful!
There's absolutely nothing wrong with this album. It might seem a bit scary, listening to the lyrics, for the little bits, but the music is trully (can't spell) beautiful and I can relate to a lot of it. Amy Lee's an amazing singer, and she should be given full credit.
Despite its creepy nature, this CD is actually quite good. The lead singer, Amy Lee's voice is beautiful, and is very touching. Warning, though. It can get a little edgy at times. "Tourniquet" is, in essence, about suicide, though it, as you can see above, is actually slightly religious. (Note: It is very creepy though) THis is a great cd, but only if you get certain tracks. For some it can just be too rough
Fallen is probably my favorite album from Evanescence. It can be a bit dark sometimes, so it's not necessarily for younger kids. But Amy Lee is a very positive role model and somehow brings out a good message in her music, even if it doesn't seem like it. Whenever I'm sad I like to listen to this album because it reminds me of how much I can relate to certain songs and I realize that I'm not alone. All in all, a very good album with a good sound too. ^_^
Fallen, Evanescence's epic debut, allowed the band to become one of the world's foremost Goth band. The music is heady, melodic metal directed by Any Lee's impassioned and flexible vocals. If your kid is seeking this music out, then they can probably handle it. The lyrics are introspective and deal with sorrow, grief, and alienation, mostly in the form of poetry. There are no cure words or seriously violent lyrics, and the effect is cathartic and cleansing. A very healthy and beautiful kind of emotional release, and should be fine for anyone above 12, although it can be an eye-opener for some 11-year-olds.
Not many positive messages, but not distinct, outright bad messages either. Amy Lee talks about how dreadful and miserable life can be at times, and in Touriquet, she says "I want to die" and "my suicide", but those are the only clear bad messages. I think it's fine to play when your kids are around--they won't learn anything bad from it.
It's a great album, and those dramatic teens can really appreciate it.
Evanescence is a great band and this is definitely their best album. It has a lot of dark imagery and most of the songs are about death or suicide. Younger kids also may not understand the meanings of the songs. I think this is okay for 10 and above.
I don't remember much about this CD but I remember a song that I loved and still do. It's awesome but I scratched the disc so it's useless now. Eh It's still great.
Just listened to this whole album, and while Amy Lee is a good singer, nothing is jumping out as super special about this band. I understand why people would like it though, the sound is similar to one of my favorite bands, Paramore, but a bit more dark. This album is just the kind of sound that's right for an edgier tween. Nothing new music wise, it sort of just sounds the same as any other band in a similar genre. There is nothing explicit about it, but the songs are dark and bleak sounding. Not a problem, but you just have to be into that kind of thing to like it.
