What's the story?
The Verve Pipe ("The Freshman") has changed their tune to make their first children's album, A FAMILY ALBUM. It's a fun, eclectic mix of rock, folk, and pop that uses an array of instruments and sounds to create ten tracks about the silliness and loveliness of childhood and family. From seeing a family grow to the power of cereal, this album will have the entire family smiling and enjoying the music together.
Is it any good?
The Verve Pipe has jumped on the bandwagon of under-the-radar musicians who, perhaps after a hiatus of mainstream hits, try their hands at children's music. While this transition doesn't always prove to be a good one for some bands, for TVP the move to the kiddie genre is as natural as Kashi cereal. Their alt-pop style mixed with horns, rooster calls, and tambourines makes these songs about family and childhood unique. From the rockin' "Wake-Up" to the sweet "Go to Sleep Now," a precious lullaby for those tender moments before bedtime, A Family Album could be a soundtrack for a day in the life of a child. Take note of the sure-to-be-fave "Be Part of the Band" -- it's a cool call to kiddies to be a rocker when they grow up -- or at least in their living room with a hairbrush mic and a family audience.

My new fave band (and oh yeah, the kids like it too).
Much Much more positive than the CD we listened to when we were kids. I have recommended this to friends with kids who love to rock out! I am a big fan if the kids rock music, like Jack Johnson and They Might Be Giants, so if you catch yourself humming those tunes, go for this too.
