What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this soundtrack is appropriate for a broader range than the movie it's inspired by, which is rated PG-13 for some sexual references. These songs, like most gospel music, are uplifting and energizing. Young children from non-Christian households may have a few questions, though.

Positive messages: This is a feel-good CD with a gentle message of hope.
Violence: There's a gentle "peace, love, and understanding" message throughout.
Sex: "I'm not saying I don't like temptation; I'm just looking for the right temptation" is about as racy as it gets.
Language: It's all squeaky-clean.
Consumerism: One guy drives a Jaguar--that's about it.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: The occasional references are anti-drug.

There are some amazing performances on THE FIGHTING TEMPTATIONS SOUNDTRACK, starting with the first track ("Fighting Temptation") featuring Beyonce, Missy Elliott, MC Lyte, and Free. Other featured artists include Destiny's Child, the O'Jays, Ann Nesby, and Christian rapper T-Bone. Some sparkling high points are "To Da River," a rap by T-Bone, Zane, and Montell Jordan; and "I'm Getting Ready" and "The Stone" by Ann Nesby and Shirley Caesar. Another powerful performance is offered by Eddie Levert, Sr. (from the O'Jays), singing in duet with Angie Stone on "Rain Down."

No-frills accompaniment and a gospel choir perfectly showcase the amazing voices on this CD. Overall, this is a wonderful introduction to gospel music in all of its surprisingly diverse forms.

I Loved it because it really taught me how to stop the temptation when i know something inside of me that wants to come out, it taught me how not to be scared.
