Parents need to know that there's not a lot to worry about in Glee: The Music, The Christmas Album, Vol. 2. The majority of these songs are clean holiday classics, with no profanity or references to adult topics like sex or substance use and only a few innocuous mentions of kissing. The album is a fine choice for younger and older kids who love Glee. A couple of the songs ("Little Drummer Boy," "Do You Hear What I Hear") reference Christianity, and several talk about Santa.
What's the story?
GLEE: THE MUSIC, THE CHRISTMAS ALBUM, VOL. 2 is the latest in the growing list of records released by the show and the second holiday album from the Glee cast. As always, this CD finds the cast doing covers of old and new songs -- with holiday classics like "Blue Christmas" by Elvis Presley, "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Eartha Kitt, and "Do They Know It's Christmas" by Band Aid -- as well as two original songs.
Is it any good?
Anyone who loves holiday music and Glee will be thrilled by this album. The cast does a solid job with these Christmas classics, not straying too far from traditional interpretations of the songs. The real highlight is the duet with Glee Project contestants Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell, who perform a lovely rendition of "Do You Hear What I Hear," backed by a beautiful gospel choir.
