Parents need to know that The Wiggles' friendly banter between songs can be fun listening for young ones. But parents putting a colicky baby to bed can skip ahead to the last 20 minutes of the album, where the most soothing lullabies are repeated without dialogue.
We expect The Wiggles to please their legions of fans with good-natured silliness, catchy melodies, and lots of jumping around. But did you know they could tone down their infectious high spirits and sing sleepy time tunes virtually guaranteed to put your little ones in a state of blissful calm? On GO TO SLEEP JEFF! they manage to do just that (despite the exclamation mark), by singing lullabies of their own composition, traditional favorites, and gentle tunes from around the world. Especially restful are the Greek lullaby "Aspri," "Polish Lullaby," and The Wiggles' own "Take a Trip Out on the Sea."
It's hard to do better than this creative collection of restful tunes from around the world. And with a generous 76 minutes of music and trademark Wiggles chit-chat, you're bound to find favorites of your own. Just make sure you don't operate complicated machinery while listening to this one -- there's too great a risk of dozing off!
Families can talk about how music (and life) have similarities all around the world. Lullabies seem to have a universal appeal.
