What parents need to know

Parents need to know that even though this is a song about breaking up, its pop style keeps it light and casual. Moms and dads (and sports fans for that matter) will immediately recognize the sampling of Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye."

What's the story?

Parents might recognize the name DeBarge from the musical family popular in the '80s. Now it is the next generation of this musical family that is making the pop charts. GOODBYE is Kristinia DeBarge's debut single off her first album. DeBarge is no stranger to the music industry; not only is her dad a founding member of the original family group, but the younger DeBarge has years of recording studio experience, appearing on the American Idol spin-off, American Juniors and reaching the semifinals. On this single, DeBarge samples the ever-popular "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye," while adding some of her own vocals and lyrics.

Is it any good?

It's quite a feat to breathe new life into a song that has taken on such a life of its own. But DeBarge is able to make this song uniquely her own and put a funky dance twist on a classic. This young singer appears to have inherited the family talent for mass-appeal music with an easygoing style.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about how music that was old is new again. Does the music industry have a habit of recycling old songs? Listen to the original "Goodbye" song and see what differences you hear. Do you like the updated version better?

I don't wanna give a review title, hoe
There's not any bad content but you'd think she could come up with some better lyrics for goodness sakes. If you actually listen to it you'll see it's one of the most uncreative songs in the history of america

Annoying after the first ten times
The radio ruined this song. I have heard it a LOT and it was fabulous. Then the radio comes and kills it. Kristinia DeBarge has a future, but she needs to get dirtier. I am not the fan of pure bubblegum cleansing, because it's boring.

Fun for all ages
Yes I know that kids are too young to be in relationships but that's not the point. Kids of all ages will have fun dancing and singing along even if they don't know what the lyrics mean. And the song has a good message too.

Upcoming pop princess can survive without the last name
"GOODBYE" by Kristinia DeBarge is a pop/R&B crossover that's sure to make a big splash on the radio.
