Why We Rated This on for Ages 8 and Up

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Some typical tween/teen talk ("She's so stupid, what were you thinking?"). A few songs discuss strong feelings about a young relationship ("not a day passes by when I don't think of you...I can't be without you" and "All I could do was think of you/sitting up in my room going crazy"). There's a brief section of cast dialog that talks about a video of "world's fattest priest" jumping rope. "Freckles" is a great song about loving yourself ("why waste a second not loving who you are").
  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

Nothing, but one section of cast dialog is talk about glow-in-the-dark bras.
  • Language:

A few words like "suckish," "hate," and "stupid." In "Girlfriend" the word "hell" is bleeped out from original version, and can't actually be heard.
  • Consumerism:

Obvious tie-in the popular Nickelodeon show.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

None, but one song says "you're so addictive" when talking about a relationship.

What Parents Need to Know

About iCarly: Music From and Inspired by the Hit TV Show

Parents need to know that in between the peppy, tween-friendly tunes on this album, there are some brief snippets of sometimes irreverent off-the-cuff comedic banter from the stars of the hit TV show iCarly that kids will get a kick out of -- even if parents don't get them. There are four new songs debuting from Miranda Cosgrove (Carly), but the rest are from various artists, some Nickelodeon sponsored (The Naked Brothers Band), and some not (Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne), although all the content is perfectly fine for tweens.
