What’s the Story?

Reviewed by Stephanie Bruzzese

After penning tunes for Britney Spears, the Pussycat Dolls, Fergie, and other megastars, New York native Joanne Germanotta -- a.k.a. Lady GaGa -- ventured out on her own with her aptly named dance-pop single, JUST DANCE. Great move for GaGa: the song was nominated for a Grammy. A popular club tune, the song tells the story of someone who's had too much of something and has lost her bearings ("Where are my keys?I lost my phone"), and just wants to dance it off.

Is It Any Good?

Just Dance is one of those songs that grows on you with repeat play. Chalk that up to its addictive beats and GaGa's strong vocals. Several remixes of the song featuring pop greats like RedOne, Robots to Mars, and others have their own appeal as well. It's a good dance song that spins mostly in the clubs, where underage kids can't hear its lyrics about drinking to excess. But if your kids want to listen to this one, it's important to talk about enjoying the song for its beats --- not its message. Coupled with GaGa's penchant for barely-there costumes, the lyrics make the track too mature for young teens.
