What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this album is packed with some fantastic children's musicians (Raffi, Laurie Berkner), as well as some legendary names like Linda Rondstadt, Willie Nelson, Los Lobos, and Faith Hill, celebrating 25 years of the music label's ventures into diverse children's music.

What's the story?

To celebrate their 25th Anniversary, Music for Little People is putting out themed compilations ("Pickin' & Grinnin'") such as LOVE & PEACE: GREATEST HITS FOR KIDS to show the label's long-standing dedication to producing culturally diverse music from all genres. Love & Peace has a number of old and new favorites here, including  Raffi, Buckwheat Zydeco, Willie Nelson, Laurie Berkner (Nick Jr.), and Faith Hill. The 16 tracks include cross-generational classics like "Baby Beluga," "Good Ship Lollipop," "La Bamba," "Teddy Bears' Picnic," "The Monster Mash," "This Land is Your Land," and "The Lion Sleeps Tonight." Yeah, a lot of great songs, all on one CD.

Is it any good?

Anything with "The Monster Mash" and "La Bamba" on one album has to be good, right? In this case, absolutely. Love & Peace: Greatest Hits for Kids showcases some of the most endearing, recognizable children's tunes that parents and their offspring can appreciate and enjoy. From "Baby Beluga" to "This Land is Your Land," the songs celebrate life, animals, silliness, and growing up. Whether listening in the car on a long road trip or being goofy together on Saturday mornings, this album is a worthwhile and generous collection of children's classics the whole family will love.
