Parents need to know that "Love You Like a Love Song" is an entirely clean single from one of Disney's shining stars, Selena Gomez. The young tweens who love this young singer/actress (and their parents, too) will be thrilled to find that the song contains no questionable content or language whatsoever.
"LOVE YOU LIKE A LOVE SONG" is the first track from the album When the Sun Goes Down by Selena Gomez, singer and star of the Disney series Wizards of Waverly Place. In keeping with Gomez's previous releases, this song is about as clean as it gets, offering no eyebrow-raising language or subject matter -- just a run down of all the reasons she cares for her guy: "You are beautiful, like a dream come alive, incredible, a center full of miracle." It's a fine choice for Gomez's legions of young tween fans.
Gomez isn't known for having a super-strong voice or the most original arrangements, but she deserves props for this song, which mercifully tones down the standard synth-pop noise and kicks the vocal performance up a notch. The end result sounds a bit more creative and mature than the rest of the bubblegum-pop pack.
Families can talk about the much-publicized romance between Gomez and Justin Bieber. Do you think this relationship will help them sell more records?
This song is all about love. Why are so many songs aimed at tweens about romance? Is this appropriate given that tweens are too young to date?
